ORIENTAL RUG CLEANING

Can My Rugs Be
Cleaned At Home?

Antique, new or vintage rugs at Renaissance ensuring the longevity and pristine condition of your beloved Oriental rugs is our professional cleaning focus. The proper cleaning is done at an in-plant cleaning facility, using specialized cleaning equipment, detergents, and methodology customized to meet each piece's unique needs. While variations of rug cleaning methods exist professionals agree in in-plant washing.

Beware of in-home carpet cleaning methods and harsh chemicals and sticky residues common in some cleaners. Hot water extraction, steam cleaning, upholstery cleaning tools, and shampoos that claim to yield similar results as hand washing; they don't.

True, a deep cleaning process can only be achieved by in-plant  cleaning and specialized cleaning solutions are gentle enough for wool and silk rugs.

Understanding The Cleaning Needs Of
Hand-Woven Rugs

Hand woven rugs are renowned for their ability to accumulate and hold dirt while still looking clean. At some point your area rug needs cleaning.

Dirt permeates deeply into a hand woven rug's foundation, eluding conventional vacuums and typical in-home cleaning approaches. Consequently, oriental rugs require specialized equipment and methodologies to remove dry soil before cleaning. Equipment only available to professional cleaners and in-plant cleaning.

Your rugs need a dedicated professional cleaning service. In a specialized workshop with equipment and techniques and understanding of fiber content to clean rugs. In-home cleaning methods prove ineffective for achieving a thorough cleaning of rugs.

Oriental carpet cleaning before

Our oriental rug cleaning starts with dry soil removal, or rug dusting, as we call it, to remove dry sandy/silt-like soiling.

Gabbeh rug cleaning after

Post-Dry Soil Removal Behold our Persian Gabbeh rug following a meticulous dusting. The discernible difference with the soil now absent from the rug’s foundation is dramatic in this rug; however, this oriental gabbeh rug is still isn't clean.

Despite the removal of gritty soil, this rug, harbors many soils that cannot be removed for dry rug dusting. Various soils and residues, including oils, proteins, and sugars, that can only be effectively removed with a well-balanced cleaning solution and a comprehensive washing process.

It's worth noting that not all cleaning services allocate sufficient time for the removal of dry soil, and unfortunately, in-home cleaning doesn’t account for any.

What Is The Best Rug Cleaning Machine?

In our experience, cleaning machines by themselves result in mediocre to poor performance. Our specialized Hand washing is ideal for natural fibers and damage or leaving results resulting in a cleaner rug. We wash rugs using mild detergents and water.

Wool fibers in antique rugs, need time to soak and solubilize deeply embedded soils, dirt, pet urine, so they can be flushed away from your rug and this deep cleaning takes time.

While our rug washing might resemble home cleaning with a garden hose on a flat surface our process combines our decades of experience, state-of-the-art cleaning equipment environmentally friendly cleaning products technology, and traditional rug washing techniques. Our cleaning method is entierly different than carpet cleaning.

 Pet Urine Removal

We remove pet urine odors and often pet stains from carpets all the time. Frankly, we’re perplexed that many cleaners make a "big stink" out of removing pet odors and getting rugs clean.

They often charge exorbitant fees and hoopla for upsells for exotic chemical decontamination baths and expensive enzyme treatments. â€‹

Our deep cleaning removes the source of the odor deeply hidden in the foundation of your woven rug without pickling your rug in perfumy deodorizers.

Pet urine removal is not impossible, but it does take time and an experienced rug cleaner.

Did we mention that we don't charge extra for pet urine odor removal?

Why Are Rugs  Called Oriental?

The term "Orient" derives from the Latin word oriens meaning "east" or  "east rising". The opposite term "Occident" derives from the Latin word occidens, meaning west.

The use of the term "Orient" occurred during the reign of Emperor  Diocletian (284–305); used to refer to lands east of the Roman empire as Orient and rugs made in these lands as Oriental rugs.
